Did the folks who failed to listen to the annoying lady not survive?

It’s an odd thing because I think this was an internal US flight and there was some article recently about an airline (Air Canada affiliate Jazz?) saving money by not having lifejackets on internal flights with the rationale that “we aren’t crossing the ocean anyway”.
But it’s alright because you can use the seats as flotation devices
