   Is Amber Jewish? Well, in that case she’s covered by the Warren Mitchell / Johnny Speight get-out-clause. By definition, nothing she says can be anti-semitic since she’s Jewish herself.

   Without suggesting for a second that the “get-out clause” works, I don’t know why you say that Amber is Jewish. The comments don’t sound – speaking from my experience as a Jew – like anything a Jew would say. As for her last name, Siyavus Tomcavage, does that sound Jewish? What about her nose?? Seriously, though, why say that she’s Jewish?

   I don’t know why you say that Amber is Jewish.

   Because this fact was pointed out by someone discussing the video on the site where I found the link, along with various accounts of Amber’s complicated early family life, put forward in an effort to explain how she had developed her attitudes.

   I suspect that if Amber hadn’t been Jewish she would have been kicked off the show—just as that UK Big Brother contestant who used the word “nigga” would have stayed on if she’d been black.

   Self-hating Jews, as we New York Jews call such people, have one distinct advantage over the garden variety anti-Semite: they are, by definition, half right (i.e. about the self-hating). If this Amber does indeed hate herself then I applaud her insight.

   Interesting bit of body language: at about 2 minutes in, the woman listening to this tripe moves her head farther away from the loathsome girl and places her hand in front of her face as if trying to politely shield herself from a farty smell. I like her for doing that.
