Did you ever hear the Jane Goodall Tramp saga? A Far Side cartoon once featured a suspicious female gorilla finding a blond hair on her husband/partner/whatever, and said that he seemed to be spending a lot of time with "that Jane Goodall tramp", the reference being to the renowned (and blonde) primatologist.

Gary Larson was then most surprised - and distressed - to receive a stiffly-worded letter from the Jane Goodall Institute, though discovered later that it was sent by a corporate lackey - Goodall herself loved the cartoon, and to make amends she invited Larson out to Africa and even wrote the introduction to one of his collections (which was my paraphrased-from-memory source).

Then again, complaining about pictures/cartoons usually backfires - if I remember rightly, the legendary Andrew Neil party snapshot that has appeared in almost every issue of Private Eye since the early 1990s (so the number of appearances must be well into triple figures) only became a running gag after Neil threatened to sue, and the Eye took legal advice which established that Neil didn't have a leg to stand on.
