"I remember an interview he gave once in which the first thing he did was tell the interviewer the latest David Beckham joke he’d heard, only in the first person. The man has a great sense of humour."

I remember that too. That was one of his finest moments, and he shot up in my estimations after that. His ability to laugh at himself is a rare thing amongst many celebrities.

Perhaps another indication that Beckham is not Jewish is that he is not renowned for that particularly Jewish quality, a sense of humour.

Taken from somethingjewish.co.uk - my comments in brackets.

"Six things that tell us why David Beckham is Jewish
1. He was born in Essex, home to one of the biggest Jewish populations in the UK. (Because, of course, being born in Essex makes everyone Jewish, especially Christians.)

2. He named his son Brooklyn which is of course, one of the biggest Jewish areas of New York. (and I suppose that all children with names similair to or cities that lie within Utah are mormon?)

3. Like any good Jewish boy, David has an association with Marks and Spencer - in his case, he endorses a range of clothes for children. (it has NOTHING to do with the dosh they are giving him? We all know that everyone who endorses M&S is Jewish, especially Denise Van Outen.)

4. David has a close connection with OK! Magazine, run by another famous Jew, publisher Richard Desmond. (Jordan was on a cover - does that make her Jewish?)

5. When he married Victoria, aka Posh Spice, they had a big elaborate wedding - as beloved by many Jewish couples. (yes, and getting married by a Vicar in a Castle makes it even more believable.)

6. He admits to not being a beer drinker, saying instead he prefers a nice glass of wine or Pepsi. (because we all know that good jews wouldn't touch a lager!)"

My point being that why is everyone so quick to pigeon-hole people and their beliefs?

For some time, being Jewish has been the "in" thing to do. It's hip to be Jewish! It is so hip trying to explain to my daughter's school or the airline that she has special dietary requirements that aren't medically related. Or when we order a pizza with only pineapple - NOT hawaiian please!

If I were to take on the religion of every wedding, funeral, celebration, or remeberance I have ever been to, I would be one confused puppy!

This was on the front page of the Jewish Chronicle a few years ago. Apparently he remembers being taken to barmitzvahs in the East End when he was a kid.

And if that weren't proof enough, he named his kid Brooklyn.
